【AEAS考试流程】

AEAS考试包括三方面内容。学生大约需要3个小时完成考试。

1)英语水平

词汇(包括各种题型,例如选择题、同义词搭配和句子填空),试题数量为20-25题。

阅读理解(包括2-3篇不同类型和题目的文章。学生结合所阅读的文章回答问题),试题数量为20-30题。

写作(要求学生选择自己感兴趣的并适合他们年龄和背景的题目写一篇200字的作文),试题数量为1题。

听力(包括4-6篇不同类型如对话、说明文的文章,学生需根据这些文章的内容回答不同题型的问题,包括选择题和句子填空),考试题数量为20-25题。

口语(包括各种会话,例如就熟悉或不熟悉的话题来回答问题,就某个题目作简短的陈述和对话。这项考试旨在考核学生所掌握的词汇量和语法的广度、深度和准确性,口语流利程度以及发音。口语考试一般需要录音),试题数量为3-4题。

数学推理能力考试的所有试题都是选择题。监考人可用学生的母语解释考试注意事项。学生参加这类考试时不再允许使用计算器和词典。

1.AEAS听力概括

录音数量 : 三段

播放次数: 一次

2.难点分析AEAS听力

①出题顺序混乱

即,与普遍的英语听力考试不同,AEAS 听力并不按照录音内容的顺序出题。

这直接导致了学生在听力过程中,上下寻找录音内容对应的题目,从而错过了正在播放的录音内容,顾此失彼,最终没能完整地听完整段录音、错过重要的细节。

②考查能力 : Notes Taking (记笔记)

AEAS旨在衡量学生适应澳洲学习和生活的能力程度,而在学校里,准确记录课堂上老师的讲课内容,对学生的学术表现至关重要。

③应对方法 :“听”为先,“题”其次

对于“题目顺序与录音顺序一致”的考试,学生可以通过听关键词来答题。结果就是,学生即使在没有听懂完整录音的情况下,也可以正确地答题。对于这种考试,“题”是关键,是“听”的依据。

然而, AEAS听力的考核,显然需要学生听懂整段录音、甚至其中的细枝末节。这时,学生反而不应该去急于答题,应该放平心态、认真听完所有的录音内容。

当然,这绝不是要求学生不看题目,相反,学生应该利用看题时间,尽量看完所有的题目, 在脑中存有大致的印象,而在录音开始之后,就不要再花时间看题、找题了。在录音播放过程中,在试卷空白处记录下重要信息。在录音结束后,再用听记下的信息来答题。

3.AEAS听力难点分析

①“专业”词汇

通过分析AEAS 7-9年级、11-12 年级听力试卷,可以看出,在考核学生的三篇听力文段中,会有一篇的“专业性”较强。 7-9年级的是关于“音乐”,11-12 年级的是关于“生物”。而这一篇也是学生普遍反映最难的一篇,基本第一遍听后,只能回答一至两题,甚至一题都答不出来。

②考核能力:学校科目的相关词汇

澳洲中学开设的科目众多,除去基础学术学科,还开设音乐、自然、戏剧、哲学、心理学等科目。AEAS针对这一点,会相应考查学生在这些科目上的英文能力。

③应对方法:有针对性的学科知识英文训练

这部分的词汇积累,取决于平时上课时的针对性训练。老师按照科目给学生准备相关词汇、阅读材料、听力材料等,让学生具备基础的相关科目的英文储备。

4.AEAS听力难点分析

①录音质量

这里的录音质量,并不是指音质方面的播放技术问题,而是指录音中说话者的语速、发音。相比较IELTS、TOEFL,AEAS是小众考试,这一点从它的听力录音质量就可以看出。与IELTS或者CUTTING EDGE的听力录音比较,前两者的录音语速适中、快慢始终一致、发音清晰饱和、每一个音节都很到位,而AEAS听力录音中说话者的语速、发音更偏向口语化,学生普遍反应语速太快,咬字不清。

②考核能力:真实的“听力”能力

虽然AEAS听力作为录音,质量“不高”,但是却很真实。现实中的老师、同学、 澳洲本地人都是这么发音的。AEAS需要考核的也是学生适应真实澳洲学习和日常生活的能力。

③应对方法: 打好“发音”基础,适应日常语速

首先,录音质量是不可改变的客观条件。其次,培养学生的正确发音(建议增开音标识读课)。很多学生听不懂,多半是因为自己并不知道这一单词的正确发音,当录音中出现这一单词时,并不能准确地反应出相应的词汇。最后,在时间允许的情况下,或者让学生在课后,多听多看英文节目,适应日常语速,增强语感。

小结:

在大量AEAS学生的听力教学过程中,有一个较突出的现象,即: 与大部分中国学生觉得听力较容易不同,很多AEAS学生反应听力难度很大,甚至超过写作、口语。

很大原因是基于上述三大难点,从而使得AEAS的听力考核不同于中国学生习惯的听力训练及考试,难度也更大。

简单的听力应试技巧并不能很大程度上地帮助学生提高成绩,它需要学生在词汇、语法、口语发音等方面的综合培训及加强,也就是说AEAS的英语老师团队,相比较其他考试类型的各科“独立作战”,或许更应该合作教学,提高学生的综合英语能力。
